About Us
Center for climate change & sustainable development (WCS), an Islamabad based company, was formed in 2019 with a motivation to provide climate services and act as a bridge to actively promote cooperation and networking among different sectors. The main focus of the company is to bring forward up to date information based on cutting edge science and policy analysis in the area of climate change. On the basis of this advanced scientific knowledge, WCS aims at providing services for support and capacity building of the stakeholders to help them in activities aimed at adapting to the consequences of climate change. By linking scientific and policy analysis, WCS provides high resolution information on the state-of-the-art solutions to national, sub-national and sector specific climate change policy and challenges.
Our Mission
Human induced climate change is one of the most pressing global problems of our time that affects every region differently. There are regions where the very devastating effects can already be felt today. In order to make informed decisions for future generations, policy makers need to be advised by researchers, providing scientifically sound knowledge based on state-of-the-art techniques. For politics, administrations, businesses and societies, there are specific questions that need to be addressed:
· To what extent does a region, country, province, district or a community have to prepare for future climate extreme events?
· How does a climate-adapted development look like?
· How can businesses cater for the effects of climate change in their future planning processes?
· How do climate change effects impact globally networked supply chains?
These questions exemplarily reflect the current information needs of decision-makers about climate change and its effects.
