Sumayya has a postgraduate degree in Development Studies and Climate Change from National
University of Sciences and Technology. Her graduate research focuses on compound climate
extremes and associated climate risks in Pakistan. In the past, she has worked in academia for 2
years and is currently working as a researcher on multiple projects, along with team management.
Under the PROVIDE project, she was involved in assessing the impact of climate change on different
social sectors and settings. Her professional expertise extends to assessing potential climate risks
on the donor-funded development projects (Climate Risk Assessments), analyzing the health
impacts of climate change, and developing inclusive adaptation strategies for affected communities.
